Given that the H1B visa requires a $100,000 fee, would you still consider studying in the US?

Today, the US President issued an executive order regarding the Trump "Golden Visa" program, requiring a minimum donation of $1,000,000 and imposing a $100,000 fee for H1B visas. This applies to both initial and renewal applications, regardless of whether the visa is ultimately approved or denied. This doesn't sound like good news. It clearly continues the overall policy of tightening immigration and non-immigrant visa regulations. Other countries will likely follow suit.
This is probably not good news for international students graduating this year, or those whose OPT is expiring and who don't have plans for further studies. In fact, if students decide they want to stay in the US long-term during their first year of study, they should start the immigration process then. Some might say this is hindsight, but isn't it good advice for students starting their studies in the US? Remember, the "Golden Visa" was initially advertised at $5,000,000; now it's $1,000,000. This demonstrates the flexibility of policies. Nothing is set in stone. Whether for large corporations or small businesses, companies want to hire the brightest talent to create value. Without the H1B visa, they might consider establishing branches outside the US to recruit these talented individuals. So, the $100,000 fee for H1B visas won't last. If it does, companies, to survive and remain competitive globally, will find other ways to hire the best talent. The $100,000 fee won't stop companies from collaborating to hire the best people.
I believe the US will adjust this policy. Simply raising the fee to $100,000 won't effectively tighten the H1B visa program or enhance US business competitiveness.
Finally, remember: accept the fluctuations; if something doesn't affect you, it doesn't matter. Do the right thing and start as soon as possible; time flies.
